The main objective of this job is to document, inform, sort and permanently integrate date palm (Phoenix dactylifera L.) samples collected with their owners in the al-‘Ulā oasis region (Saudi Arabia) by al-‘Ulā DPA Project: Ethnographic, genetic, and morphometric analyses of the date palm agrobiodiversity in al-‘Ulā oasis.
This collection of samples has been split into two parts, one for genetic analysis and the other stored by the Muséum national d’histoire naturelle for science replication purposes — a scientific experimental protocol must guarantee the transparency and replicability of the experiment. To this end, a Muséum research engineer, Mrs. Flora Pennec, under the direction of Dr. Vincent Battesti, registers them in the Muséum’s botanical collections, renowned for their expertise in the conservation of biological material.
The technician hired will work under the authority of CNRS engineer Flora Pennec.
