A geneticist from the IRD (UMR DIADE) and an ethnobotanist from the CNRS join forces with the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) in Saudi Arabia to trace the genomic identities behind the local names of date varieties grown in a 3000-year-old oasis.
