Cependant, le censeur le plus sévère d’un ouvrage, c’est l’auteur. Combien il se donne de peines pour lui seul! C’est lui qui connaît le vice secret; et ce n’est presque jamais là, que le critique pose le doigt. Cela m’a souvent rappelé le mot d’un philosophe : “Ils disent du mal de moi? Ah! s’ils me connaissaient comme je me connais!...”
It is not always easy to offer to read all your own intellectual production. Anyway, I’m not an exhibitionist at ease with this: I’m not proud of all my work, some of my writings are old, others would ask for more work or more detailed analysis, etc. But I think that transparency in science is necessary, and has to be as complete as possible. That is why I make this effort to make my scientific production available here, and also in Open Archives.
