In July 2026, I was appointed by the President of the Board to serve on the new Council of the SENS Department — Societies & Environments — at the Muséum national d’histoire naturelle.
This is a four-year appointment for the 2026–2030 term.

The Societies & Environments Department comprises six joint research units. Its research themes address biological diversity and its role in present and past ecosystems in relation to human activities and cultures, human evolution, the construction of naturalist knowledge, and environmental management policies.
– BioArch UMR 7209
The Bioarchaeology: Interactions, Societies, Environments unit studies the history of natural and cultural interactions between human societies and animal and plant populations in ancient periods, notably through remains recovered from archaeological excavations.
– CAK UMR 8560
The Alexandre Koyré Centre explores the social and cultural history of science, knowledge, and technology, in dialogue with philosophical and sociological approaches. Its work highlights naturalist knowledge while also addressing environmental—and even extraterrestrial—questions.
– CESCO UMR 7204
The Centre for Ecology and Conservation Sciences works toward biodiversity conservation through a range of approaches, particularly ecological ones, in connection with the social sciences. The unit also assesses individual and collective actions implemented to prevent or limit disturbances linked to human activities.

The Eco-anthropology unit examines both the ways in which human beings perceive and act upon their environment, and the ways in which the environment and cultural practices shape human biology, over the long term and through the course of our evolution.
– HNHP UMR 7194
The Natural History of Prehistoric Humanities unit studies and teaches, in the broadest sense, naturalist prehistory. This includes knowledge of the human lineage, environments, and technical and symbolic behaviours over long timescales.
– PALOC UMR 208
The Local Heritage, Environment and Globalization unit studies each heritage object—building, artefact, knowledge, traditional music, and so forth—by taking into account its social belonging as well as its political and cultural significance. One of its distinctive features is its presence on every continent.
