 Informations essentielles :
Le Barnī est la principale variété de palmier dattier (Phoenix dactylifera L.) cultivée dans l’oasis d’al-‘Ulā et sa région. L’objectif de cette étude est de vérifier le statut de ce palmier dattier et de déterminer avec précision s’il s’agit d’un cultivar vrai ou d’une ethnovariété, c’est-à-dire si son identité locale, donnée par les agriculteurs, correspond à une identité génétique unique (et donc reproduite localement toujours de manière végétative) ou si elle renvoie à une multiplicité de formes génétiques. Suite au reséquençage de l’ensemble du génome, nos analyses en génétique des populations montrent que le Barnī est un cultivar vrai à al-‘Ulā et dans les palmeraies des environs.
